You know how to use WYSIWYG HTML Editors, how to design and code your website with HTML, CSS, Javascript, Java, Flash, blah blahs. But will or do they look exactly the way you wanted to show to your end-users–who uses different operating systems (OS) and web browsers (WB)? Cross-browser incompatibilities is a nuisance and can take away the interest of your audience off your website. Here in a useful open-source online tool that can solve your problem and also save your time checking your coolly designed websites in many browsers – Browsershots!
Browsershots makes screenshots of your web design in different browsers. It is a free open-source online service created by Johann C. Rocholl. When you submit your web address, it will be added to the job queue. A number of distributed computers will open your website in their browser. Then they will make screenshots and upload them to the central server here.
You can take the screenshots of your website from different OS platforms – LINUX, Windows, Mac OS. And the browsers? Here list the list:
Linux supported WBs:
BonEcho, Dillo, Epiphany, Firebird, Firefox, Flock, Galeon, GranParadiso, Iceape, Iceweasel, Kazehakase, Konqueror, Navigator, Opera, SeaMonkey.
Windows supported WBs:
Firefox, Flock, K-Meleon, Internet Explorer, Opera, Safari, SeaMonkey.
Mac OS supported WBs:
Firefox, Safari
You can also set and change the Screen Size, Color Depth, enable or disable Javascript with different versions, enable or disable Java with the options to set the versions and the same for Flash.
And that is not all to it. You can even download the Broswershots source code and re-use it and provide the same service of http://browsershots.org/ in your website.
Happy screenshooting your designs!
